Iroquois Museum 2023 ExhibitHowes Cave, NY--The Iroquois Museum will be holding the opening reception for the featured exhibition on May 6, 2023 from 1 to 4 pm.  This year’s exhibition is titled Oil & Water: Works by Ernest Smith, Jesse Cornplanter, and James Beaver from the Iroquois Museum collection. The exhibit showcases 3 early Haudenosaunee artists and the impact of the Seneca Arts Project (part of the WPA Indian Arts Project) in the context of cultural assimilation and revitalization.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the kickoff of celebrations surrounding the upcoming centennial of the Bear Mountain Bridge in 2024. Between now and fall 2024, several events and initiatives are underway to celebrate one of the Hudson Valley's most recognizable structures, including a centennial website, a documentary film and an international bridge engineering conference. Various leaders and community members joined the New York State Bridge Authority at the bridge today to make the announcement. Participants also dedicated a time capsule to mark 100 years since construction of the bridge began.

Lake Placid, N.Y. – The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) announces record visits of more than one million to its venues during the 2022-2023 year that concluded on March 31. The Olympic Authority estimates this is an increase of more than 15% from pre-pandemic visitation.

Olympic Authority venues include the alpine ski resorts of Belleayre Mountain, Gore Mountain, and Whiteface Mountain, along with the Olympic Center, Mt Van Hoevenberg, and Olympic Jumping Complex.

Coney Island USA PresentsBrooklyn, NY -- The 23nd annual installment of the Coney Island Film Festival, named one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals" by MovieMaker Magazine, hits the shores of Coney Island from Friday, May 5th through Sunday, May 7th. This year's edition features 103 films from around the world.

Prestigious International Competition Returns to New York After 30 Years

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that Utica was selected as the host city for the 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's Championship, tentatively slated for April 4-14, 2024. USA Hockey will host the event in conjunction with the Upper Mohawk Valley Memorial Auditorium Authority and the Adirondack Bank Center and the Utica University Nexus Center. The IIHF World Women's Championship is the premier international tournament in women's ice hockey. Utica will welcome ten international teams, 350 players, 30,000 local spectators and 20,000 overnight spectators to the Mohawk Valley.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that registration is now open for the 12th annual I Love My Park Day, which will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at State parks, historic sites and public lands all across New York State. The event, a partnership between Parks & Trails New York, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and the Department of Environmental Conservation, is the largest statewide volunteer event to enhance parks, historic sites and public lands and raise awareness and visibility to the state outdoor recreation assets and their needs.
