Flatiron 23rd Street PartnershipProfessional guides lead participants on 90-minute historic tours every Sunday morning, rain or shine, throughout the year

New York. N.Y. – The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) provides free, year-round historic walking tours of the district every Sunday, led by professional guides. The walking tours highlight some of the city’s most notable landmarks, including the Flatiron Building, New York Life Insurance Building, MetLife Clock Tower, and Appellate Courthouse.

Since the Flatiron Partnership began offering the tours a decade ago, more than 6,500 people - from 60 countries and more than 440 cities in the United States and Canada - have taken part in more than 560 excursions.

Dutchess County Tourism logoPoughkeepsie, NY– Dutchess Tourism, Inc. (DTI) and Poughkeepsie Galleria are seeking proposals from artists for a commissioned mural project at the Poughkeepsie Galleria. The mural will enhance what will become the newly expanded Dutchess Tourism Information Center located inside the Galleria near the Food Court. The two organizations are working in partnership with Arts Mid-Hudson to solicit submissions, collect and judge the proposals.

Ticonderoga, NY – Fort Ticonderoga today announced a special museum exhibit and programming for Memorial Day Weekend that honors the service of the Armed Forces of the United States on the very ground where many American soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of freedom.

The “Achieving Independence: Ticonderoga and Philadelphia” pop-up exhibit explores the relationship between the two iconic locations during the country’s founding.

Guided Tours of the Lighthouse will be provided

Clinton County, N.Y. – The public is invited to visit the historic Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island each Sunday in July and August as well as September 2nd.  Transportation to the Lighthouse is the responsibility of the individual. Guided tours will be provided.  The Lighthouse will close at 3 pm each day. 

Visitors to the Lighthouse will view displays depicting the history of Lake Champlain Lighthouses, Lake Champlain’s Military History, the 20th Century Camps on Valcour Island and the Life of a Lighthouse Keeper. Visitors may climb to the Lantern Room to see the functioning light and the outstanding view it offers.

Wilson Overlook, designed by the innovative, multidisciplinary architecture firm Weiss/Manfredi and opening in summer 2019.  One of the Garden’s most significant undeveloped sites, the Overlook encompasses a 1.25-acre area with sweeping views over Cherry Esplanade and the Garden at large.

For their Hudson debut, the Company perform three dances by choreographer Stephen Petronio including his newest work, Hardness 10, which marked his third collaboration with composer Nico Muhly and first with fashion designer Patricia Field ARTFASHION; an excerpt from Underland (2003), inspired by the dark, sensual music of Australian legend, Nick Cave; and Bud Suite (2006), which muses on the melodic pop-tunes of Rufus Wainwright.

Rensselaer, N.Y. –On May 26, 2018, Crailo State Historic Site will host a Pinkster celebration featuring musical performances and educational experiences. Once a Dutch holiday commemorating Pentecost, Pinkster became a distinctly African American holiday in the Hudson River Valley during the colonial era.  During the 17th and 18th centuries, enslaved and free African Americans transformed Pinkster from a Dutch religious observance into a spring festival and a celebration of African cultural traditions.
