All ages are invited to participate. Great Adirondack Garage Sale logoAdirondacks, USA - The 2021 Great Adirondack Garage Sale will be held at the end of the month, on May 28 - 30, 2021. After health and safety concerns moved the event to August last summer, the event is now returning to its traditional Memorial Day weekend date.

This annual event consists of residents selling their items along a 100+ mile trail stretching from Tupper Lake to Speculator, and Old Forge to Newcomb. With offerings of vintage antiques, rustic furniture, jewelry, kitchen items, toys, clothing, and more, there is always something for everyone.

Carl Chiarenza: Journey into the Unknown

Throughout his career, Carl Chiarenza (American, b. 1935) has demonstrated that photographs can provide much more than just documentary evidence. Rather than create straightforward records of the cast-off materials that appear before his camera, Chiarenza photographically transforms them into new and provocative images. His photographs often bear little resemblance to their actual subjects and instead suggest mysterious worlds that viewers are invited to explore.

Utica, N.Y. – The Oneida County History Center presents the work of local award-winning photographer Frank Forte.  An Erie Canal Odyssey depicts communities, structures, boats, people, and activities along the canals of New York State. Forte began exploring and photographing parts of New York canal system in 2019.  This exhibit depicts the first part of his self-commissioned project to visit and document New York’s entire canal system. It will be on display at the Oneida County History Center through August, 2021.

SVM Sully's Squad PhotoGranville, NY: On Sunday, June 6 - the 77th anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy - the Slate Valley Museum will welcome author Kevin Wilson to discuss, explore, and share his 2020 World War II novel, Sully’s Squad.

Sully’s Squad is a young adult historical fiction novel about the Second World War, told through the eyes of 15-year-old Arty, from Saratoga, who lies about his age to enlist in the military. The story is inspired by the author’s uncle, Salvatore "Sully" Fringi, from Granville, who served in the 1st Infantry Division in North Africa and Sicily.

USS SlaterSLATER will be open Monday May 31st for Memorial Day

Albany, N.Y. – Visit USS SLATER this Memorial Weekend! The ship will operate normal hours Wednesday through Sunday and additionally Monday for Memorial Day from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission is charged for tours of USS SLATER. Adults: $9.00, Seniors: $8.00, Children: $7.00, and children under 5 years old are admitted for free.

USS SLATER, the last Destroyer Escort afloat in America, is open to the public for her 24th season in Albany. Guided tours start every 30 minutes. No reservations are required.
