Olana Outdoor ToursHudson, NY—Frederic Church’s Olana announces the restart of public programs with new Olana Outdoor Tours. While the park has been continuously open, public programs were suspended due to COVID-19. Now, new outdoor, limited-attendance tours follow NYS Department of Health guidelines and represent the first phase in reopening public tours and providing educational experiences for visitors.

The Olana Outdoor Tours present Olana as a holistic environment by exploring Olana’s historic architecture and 250-acre landscape and engaging with the themes central to work of Frederic Church and his fellow Hudson River School artists.

Museum of the Moving ImageGrant will fund expansion of the Museum’s online programming and digital content

Astoria, New York, June 23, 2020 — The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded a CARES grant in the amount of $296,490 to Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) to greatly expand the Museum’s capacity to offer humanities content to a broad public via new and ongoing digital programming. The funds will allow the Museum to reach diverse communities around the world by developing new content, supporting existing online projects, and building a new website that will unite all of MoMI’s activities. The award will also help the Museum retain and rehire staff affected by the COVID-19 crisis and to prepare for the safe reopening of the building.

Rochester, N.Y., June 24, 2020—The George Eastman Museum has announced that it will begin its series of George Eastman Bike Tours on Saturday, July 18 at 10 a.m. The two-hour tour is led by Jesse Peers, archivist in the George Eastman Legacy Collection and certified bike educator. Peers will guide participants on the relaxed pace, 6.5-mile tour that begins and ends at the Eastman Museum. A nod to George Eastman’s own love of cycling, the bike tour will take riders to ten different locations related to the life and work of this pioneer of popular photography and famous Rochesterian. Each tour is $25 per person, and advance registration is required at eastman.org/biketours, as space is limited.

Orange County, N.Y. (June 22, 2020) – A new series, “BIG DOGS”, is set to premiere on streaming services Amazon Prime and Tubi on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. The series, created by author Adam Dunn and based on his novels, was heavily filmed in Orange County, N.Y., including many locations in the City of and Town of Newburgh, among others.

Genesee Country Village - Museum Opens to Visitors and Summer CampersMumford, N.Y. (June 22) – Genesee Country Village & Museum will open to the general public beginning Friday, July 3, in time for the Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4. This family-friendly event will feature music, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a black powder shoot, with a focus on outdoor activities to allow for physical distancing and free movement of guests. In addition, many of the Museum’s historic buildings will be open for the first time this season. Food will also be available at the Museum’s Depot restaurant, and the newly-renovated Flint Hill Store will be open for business.
