Eastman Museum LogoRochester, N.Y. (June 24, 2021) —The George Eastman Museum is hosting a community forum on Wednesday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m., to share information about its New Galleries Project, as well as a major marketing and tourism program designed to support the upcoming exhibition Joshua Rashaad McFadden: I Believe I’ll Run On, an early-career survey of the works of the Rochester-based visual artist. The museum invites the public to attend and learn more about the status of these projects and their next phases, as well as ask questions and provide input. The forum will be held in the new multipurpose hall at the George Eastman Museum, 900 East Avenue, Rochester.

Genesee County Fair 2021Batavia, N.Y. – One of the longest consecutively running county fairs in New York State, the Genesee County Fair is celebrating its 181st year. It will take place July 24 – 31, 2021 at the Genesee County Fairgrounds. A short drive from both Rochester and Buffalo, and just $10 per carload, it is one of the most affordable family activities of the summer. 

Run 100% by volunteers, the county fair continues to grow and once again includes a second weekend. Over the eight days of the fair, attendees will enjoy nightly live music, classic fair foods, meet and greets with animals and a Midway courtesy of Hammerl Amusements.

(June 2021) — This July, Fort Ticonderoga will celebrate Independence Day with a packed month of special events and programming, including an exciting holiday weekend filled with historically-accurate demonstrations, a mid-month, two-day reenactment of the 1777 siege of Fort Ticonderoga and a late July 1776-themed concert series. Experience the American Revolution on the very ground where the fight for liberty occurred. Join museum staff and costumed interpreters as they recreate in real time the events of July 1776. Guests will follow the footsteps of the Continental Army and see first-hand the struggle for freedom.

Skaneateles Antique and Classic Boat ShowFormer Mailboat Makes Triumphant Return

Skaneateles, N.Y. -- Before there was the Barbara S. Wiles delivering mail to summer residents along Skaneateles Lake, there was the Pat II, which plied the lake’s waters from 1956 to 1991. Now, 30 years since its last appearance, the newly renovated Pat II—one of the few all-electric passenger vessels in the country—returns to Skaneateles for the 43rd Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show. 

The show, hosted by the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, runs July 23-25 in Clift Park, Hours are 3 p.m. to dusk Friday, 9 a.m. to dusk Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

Eastman Museum LogoGeorge Eastman Museum’s Dryden Theatre will screen the free films on Wednesdays and Thursdays from July 1 to September 1 

Rochester, N.Y. — This summer, the George Eastman Museum will present two free film series in solidarity with Black Americans and Asian/Pacific Islander Americans: Spotlighting Black Film Artists and Celebrating Asian/Pacific American Directors. All are invited to attend the screenings at the Dryden Theatre. There are 17 motion pictures in total, with the first screening scheduled for July 1.

Albany, NY (June 22, 2021) — The University Art Museum is pleased to present Well/Being: An Exhibition on Healing and Repair featuring artwork that addresses the complexities of daily life during this pandemic era. Twelve established and emerging artists and musicians present multi-disciplinary approaches to pandemic-related issues such as kinship, chronic illness, convalescence, intimacy, the emotional costs of caregiving, and various incarnations of love and community.

Responding to the urgent need for social and cultural spaces in which to pause, reflect, and find solace, Well/Being includes new commissions, participatory workshops, performances, and conversations created to provide an environment in which visitors can experience forms of connection, resilience, action, and hope in turbulent times.
