Island-Inspired Restaurant and Rum Bar Hosts On-the-Water Celebration

Hampton Bays, NY (June 14, 2023) – RUMBA Inspired Island Cuisine & Rum Bar announces the 4th Annual Rumba Cove Boat Party, on Saturday, June 24th from 12-6pm. Boaters are encouraged to anchor down in Shinnecock Bay, just behind Rumba, where food will be delivered via jet ski beginning at noon, and a live performance from Project Vibe from 2-6pm on a barge in the middle of the water.

The day will include demonstrations and displays of daily life for the people who lived and worked at Clermont and the surrounding areas at the dawn of the American Revolution. Demonstrations and presenters include farming, cooking, woodworking, laundry and more. CCHS Museum & LibraryKinderhook, NY (June 15, 2023) – The Columbia County Historical Society announced today a grant award totaling $10,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), part of a record capital project funding announcement by NYSCA, which totals over $42 million to 144 capital projects across New York State.

The grant will support an energy-efficient boiler replacement at the CCHS Museum & Library, 5 Albany Avenue, Kinderhook. The building, which also houses the Society’s offices and historical collections, was built as a masonic temple in 1925. “…

Clinton County Historical AssociationPlattsburgh, N.Y. – The public is invited to visit the historic Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island each Sunday in July and August beginning July 2nd.  Transportation to the Lighthouse is the responsibility of the individual. Guided tours of the lighthouse are provided, and visitors will receive the Valcour Island Heritage Trail Guide.  The Lighthouse will be open from 1pm to 3pm each Sunday. Tours are free, and donations are appreciated.

Clinton County Historical AssociationFeaturing tours of the Historic Bluff Point Lighthouse

Plattsburgh, N.Y. – The public is invited to join the Clinton County Historical Association (CCHA) on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Peru Dock for the opportunity to visit the historic Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island.  Round trip transportation will be provided for $30 per person.  The fee will include a trail guide and George Clifford's book on Lake Champlain Lighthouses. Special Lighthouse T-Shirts will also be on sale that day.

“We take great pride in this historical milestone and express our deep gratitude to all our supporters who have been instrumental in helping us reach this significant achievement,” says Doreen Kelly, Wiawaka’s Executive Director. Wiawaka’s co-founder, Mary Wiltsie Fuller, passed away on July 6th, 1943. “We are immensely grateful to her, even 80 years later, for envisioning a sanctuary where women could find support during the times we needed it the most,” says Doreen.
