Finger Lakes Regional Tourism Council.Over 58,000 Jobs, over $3 Billion Spent by Visitors to Region in 2017

Pittsford, N.Y. - The newly released "Economic Impact of Tourism in New York" report by I Love NY announced the significant economic and employment impact of the tourism industry in the Finger Lakes region for 2017.

The Finger Lakes Regional Tourism Council (FLRTC), the official tourism promotion agency for the Finger Lakes Vacation Region, assisted in bringing an over $3 billion in traveler spend to the area last year - which accounted for 17% of traveler spending in Upstate New York and 5% of all traveler spending in the entire State in 2017.

The exhibition runs from Saturday, July 28, through Sunday September 30.

The works in the exhibition illustrate some of the various expression through which queer individuals combat stigmatization and assert empowered identities.

Tupper Lake TinmanTupper Lake, N.Y. — In 2018 Tupper Lake Tinman participants contributed $312,650 in direct spending to the region according to this year’s survey and direct expenditure results. One of the longest-running triathlons in the U.S., the race celebrated its 36th year with a field of 504 athletes on June 23. 

The survey, which was sponsored by the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST), was distributed to this year’s race participants via email and by a notification in their race packet. …

Mezzo-soprano Samantha Malk will attempt that feat when she performs Leo Hoiby’s Bon Appétit!, a one-woman opera based on Julia Child’s beloved cooking show, at the Otesaga Resort Hotel on Monday August 20 at 7:30pm. While accompanied by woodwind quintet and piano, Ms. Malk will whip up a cake – using real ingredients – right in front of the audience’s eyes.
