Albany, N.Y. (Aug. 6, 2014) - The Hudson River Valley Greenway and Hudson River Valley National Heritage announced today that the 15th Annual Hudson River Valley Ramble will feature more than 200 exciting events throughout the Hudson River Valley region. The Ramble will be held during each weekend in September, and features the events of more than 150 partner organizations. The Hudson River Valley Ramble offers a variety of walks, hikes, paddles, biking tours and other events and is designed to showcase the scenic, natural, historic and cultural resources of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area . Ramble events are led by naturalists, ecologists, historians, geologists and trained volunteers from participating organizations.

Opening Night: Wednesday, Aug 6 @ 8 PM

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Philadelphia Orchestra, one of the preeminent orchestras in the world, returns to its summer stage at Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, August 6 at 8 P.M. to commence a spectacular three-week residency highlighted by several premieres and appearances by a star-studded roster of conductors and soloists.  Opening Night, "The American Songbook," will feature Tony Award-winning Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell in a program of classics by Gershwin, Copland and Bernstein. Other notable highlights of the season include the much-anticipated return of The Philadelphia Orchestra's Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the New York premiere of Tan Dun's Nu Shu: The Secret Songs of Women and an evening with iconic violinist Itzhak Perlman. The Orchestra season runs from August 6 - 23.

Waverly, N.Y. - If you enjoy riding your bicycle along the roads in Tioga County, we have just the thing for you - the 12th Annual Bike Tioga event! Bike Tioga is being held on August 9th in its new location in downtown Waverly. Bike Tioga is not a race, but a ride of either 20, 40 or 60 miles with various elevations throughout beautiful Tioga County and riders are needed to participate.

Windham, NY Named as a Site for the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup As the Town Gears Up for Next Week's 2014 Races

Windham, N.Y. - In one week, the 2014 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano will kick off in Windham but today the small community in the Northern Catskills found out that it has already won. In an announcement made by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the Switzerland-based worldwide governing body of cycling, Windham was once again named the only mountain bike world cup site in the United States.

Mumford, N.Y. - Music at its most traditional will envelope Genesee Country Village & Museum on Aug. 16-17, as the museum hosts its Old-Time Fiddlers' Fair, the largest showcase of traditional music in Western New York.

Musicians, ranging from the polished professional to the fledging beginner will fill a variety of venues with fiddlers and dulcimers.

Vintage Race Boat Will Be Featured

Skaneateles, N.Y. - Miss America IX, the first boat in the world to exceed 100 mph, will be among the 150 boats on display at the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS) Annual Meeting and International Boat Show.
The Society's 39th annual show, held at the Skaneateles Country Club, 3344 W. Lake Road (Rte. 41A), is open to the public Sept. 19 and 20.

Tioga County, N.Y. - The 2nd annual Waverly's Attic event, a fundraiser for the Susquehanna River Archaeological Center (SRAC), will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Broad Street in Waverly, NY on August 9, 2014. Broad Street will be closed from Pennsylvania Avenue to Waverly Street and will be filled with street and food vendors, free children's games and prizes, music, a Chinese auction, and many other activities. All of these activities will be centered on a huge street auction that will start at noon and will include antiques, household goods, and even some rare local collectibles. Some of these items include a band drum marked "1901 - Waverly," a wooden box with "Waverly Sugar Bowl," a banner from the centennial celebration of Waverly, NY in 1954, milk bottles from Towanda, Elmira, and other localities, an Ingersoll Rand plate and Lehigh Valley Railroad memorabilia.
