Cooperstown Summer Music FestivalCooperstown, N.Y. (August 13, 2021) - The recent uptick of COVID-19 cases has forced the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival to postpone their August and September concerts to an unknown later date. Ticketholders for all concerts will be given the option of receiving a refund or donating the cost of their tickets to fund future initiatives.

Farmingdale, NY (August 14, 2021) - Long Island’s American Airpower Museum (AAM) will host its Warbirds, Wings and Wheels Show on Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, September 4th and Sunday, September 5th, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Museum, Hangar 3, 1230 New Highway, Farmingdale, New York.  Come to the Museum’s two day spectacular celebrating the history of Aviation and Automobiles!  Get up close and personal with vintage Biplanes, Model A and T Fords, plus the Museum’s fleet of World War II aircraft.  There will be flights available on vintage aircraft, contests, raffles and much, much more.

Oneida County History CenterUtica, N.Y. - This year marks the 9th anniversary of the award-winning Tuesdays on the Towpath recreational bike ride series. Where riders experience sites on or around the Erie Canal at an easy pace. The rides are guided and typically include a speaker who will illuminate history, ecology, and other topics along the route. 

On August 24, 2021, the Oneida County History Center will host a ride in the Utica area. The ride will start at Lock 20 in Marcy and ride east to travel along the 1919 Barge Canal.  Riders will stop along the way to learn about the canal including the location of “The Cut.” dug on the Mohawk River in 1730. This was the first artificial channel for navigation created in what would become New York State and it symbolizes the beginning of the Canal Age.  This six-mile journey is flat and will ride out to the Utica Marsh and back.

Saratoga Springs, NY (August 4, 2021) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announces the online opening on Saturday, August 7, of Look After Each Other: Intimacy and Community. The student-curated exhibition features work by artists, activists, and documentarians who show the human side of life with HIV/AIDS beyond a medical diagnosis, revealing moments of intimacy, care, friendship, and more.

Organized by Nathan Bloom ’21, the 2020–21 Eleanor Linder Winter ’45 Endowed Intern, the exhibition presents the work — posters, magazine covers, drawings, video, fiber art, sculpture, and photography, most coming from the Tang’s growing collection — in five distinct, yet interrelated, sections: Performance, Livelihood, Memory, Outreach, and Joy.

Discover SchenectadySchenectady, N.Y. (August 3, 2021) – The US Tennis Association’s Eastern Section is returning to Schenectady’s Central park with their Adult League Sectional Championships over 3 weekends in August and 2 weekends in September.

Beginning this weekend, Schenectady will welcome hundreds of amateur tennis players from throughout New York State, Northern & Central New Jersey and Southern Connecticut. Men & women players will compete in age brackets of 18 & over, 40 & over, 55 & over and 65 & over. This marks a return to the area after the 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic. This year’s event will operate at 50% capacity, due to the ongoing concerns of the pandemic, with the balance of the tournament being held at a facility downstate. 

Adirondack Balloon FestivalQueensbury, NY — The nationally-known event, the Adirondack Balloon Festival, is back this September for its 48th year, with a brand-new format, expanding to include a new event at East Field in Glens Falls, multiple launch sites throughout Warren and Washington counties, a drive-through moonglow, and more.

“This will not be the same-old, same-old Adirondack Balloon Festival you know from years past,” says Mark Donahue, President of the organization’s Board of Directors. “Due to COVID, we had to totally reinvent the festival this year. We are excited to bring back the joy and wonder of the mass ascensions, while keeping safe and still having fun. David Michael MillerLong Lake, N.Y. -- Long Lake’s final Music by the Lake concert will be held on Friday, August 13th on the Long Lake Town Beach from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring the Buffalo based act Miller & The Other Sinners. In the event of rain the show will be at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. This event is free.

Miller and The Other Sinners is a nationally touring Southern Soul band from Buffalo, NY, bringing a blend of gut bucket delta grit, Memphis soul, gospel spirit and funky rhythm and blues.  Since August of 2015, they have performed over 700 shows across 21 states and Canada from house parties to festivals. …

Catskill Symphony OrchestraOneonta, NY (August 3, 2021) — The Catskill Symphony Orchestra (CSO) announces its 2021-2022 Season after a nearly two-year hiatus. The CSO, a full-scale professional orchestra based in Central New York that was founded in 1953, will offer two fall concerts and two spring concerts at various venues in Oneonta.
