Astoria, New York — Museum of the Moving Image’s Caan Film Festival returns this September to celebrate the life, career, and legacy of the late legendary James Caan. Running Friday, September 16 through Sunday, October 9, the festival in its fourth edition will revisit the most iconic performances of Caan’s six-decade career. The Godfather (1972), El Dorado (1966), Games (1967), The Gambler (1974), Harry and Walter Go to New York (1976), Cinderella Liberty (1973), The Killer Elite (1975), Thief (1981), Elf (2003), and more will be screened—many in 35mm—over the course of four weekends in the Museum’s Redstone Theater and Bartos Screening Room.

Now 245 years later, guests will witness this real-life action adventure unfold, as patriot Colonel John Brown leads a surprise attack against British troops garrisoning Fort Ticonderoga all weekend, September 17- 18. This battle reenactment weekend will recreate what has become known as Brown’s Raid, an action adventure story pulled straight from the pages of Fort Ticonderoga’s history. Each day is different, as visitors experience the whole story of Brown’s Raid, with battle reenactments at 1:15 pm.

Saratoga Springs, NY (August 23, 2022) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College and Saratoga Performing Arts Center present a special performance by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw and GRAMMY Award winning Sō Percussion of their acclaimed collaboration Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part on Friday, September 23, at 7:30 pm at the Tang. The performance is part of an on-going series of collaborations between SPAC and Skidmore College. The event is free and open to the public.

Staatsburg, N.Y. — New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce its outdoor summer concert series, Twilight Music in the Parks, at the Walkway Over the Hudson Historic State Park, on Thursday nights from 6:00 – 7:00pm. The concert will be held on the Highland (Ulster) side at the Ulster Welcome Center. The music program runs each Thursday night now through September 1.
