Saratoga Springs, NY (October 19, 2022) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announces the premiere performances on Thursday, October 27, of newly commissioned works-in-progress by acclaimed playwrights Lanxing Fu, Julia May Jonas, and Andrew Rincón in response to the Tang exhibition Where Words Falter: Art and Empathy.

The three new works will be performed at 6 pm and 7:30 pm on October 27, in the Where Words Falter: Art and Empathy exhibition at the Tang.

Victoria Findlay-Wolf - Better Days 2022Auburn, NY (Oct. 20, 2022) – The Schweinfurth Art Center’s most popular exhibit, “Quilts=Art=Quilts,” is set to open next week with a weekend of activities centering on fiber arts. The exhibit includes 69 quilts created by 64 artists from the United States, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, England, and Norway. 

The weekend begins Friday, Oct. 28, with a three-day intensive workshop on Shibori resist dying, a Japanese technique that involves folding, bunching, or bundling fabric, binding it with a resist, and dyeing it with indigo dye.

Astoria, New York, October 20, 2022 — At a time when nonfiction films are experiencing an extraordinary renaissance, Museum of the Moving Image is pleased to present a long overdue retrospective of Japanese documentary filmmaker Noriaki Tsuchimoto, who made films that are revelatory in their patient pursuit of humanity. Tsuchimoto is best known for his series of films set in the town of Minamata, which earned him a quiet reputation as the preeminent chronicler of life in the wake of industrial disaster, but his oeuvre also took him throughout Japan and to Siberia and Afghanistan in a career spanning the 1960s through 1980s.
