Antique Boat Museum logoClayton, N.Y. (May 24, 2023) – The Antique Boat Museum is pleased to announce the 2023 summer session of the Captain School at ABM with instructor Captain Tom Trovato.  The Captain School at ABM offers courses necessary to secure a captain’s license.  During this session, the Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) is being offered.  Upon completion of all coursework and testing, students will have the materials to apply for their Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) through the U.S. Coast Guard at the OUPV level.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the opening of the 2023 Navigation Season for the 524-mile New York State Canal system, kicking off the 199th consecutive opening of the historic waterways. Locks and lift bridges on the Erie, Champlain, Oswego, and Cayuga-Seneca Canals will operate daily today through October 11th, providing opportunities for boating, fishing, and sightseeing to tourists, canal enthusiasts and all New Yorkers.

44th Annual Classic and Antique Boat ShowSkaneateles, N.Y. -- In their heyday, no one had ever heard of COVID. Or climate change. Or crypto. The Cold War had yet to begin. Now, almost a century later, scores of wooden boats by such iconic names as Chris-Craft, Hacker and Gar Wood will be featured at the 44th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show in Skaneateles. The show, one of the most popular of its kind in the Northeast, runs July 29-31 in Clift Park. Hours are 3 p.m. to dusk Friday, 9 a.m. to dusk Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. The event is organized by the Finger Lakes Chapter (FLC) of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation (also known as the Skaneateles Foundation).

They and dozens of other dazzling midcentury boats will be on display at Skaneateles’ 44th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show July 29-31.
