National Racing Museum and Hall of FameSaratoga Springs, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will present a symposium on Sunday, Aug. 19 featuring accomplished women involved in various aspects of thoroughbred racing. Comprised of seven of the most recognizable women in the sport — Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone, Hall of Fame trainer Janet Elliot, champion steeplechase jockey Blythe Miller Davies, record-breaking trainer Linda Rice, iconic owner/breeder Charlotte Weber, industry leader Stella Thayer and top racing analyst Gabby Gaudet — the panel will be moderated by longtime television commentator Charlsie Cantey. The symposium begins at 10 a.m. in the Museum’s Hall of Fame Gallery and is open to the public and free to attend.

NYS Museum tomahawkTomahawk Was Given to Seneca Leader “Cornplanter” by George Washington

Albany, N.Y. – The New York State Museum has announced that an 18th-century Native American tomahawk gifted to Cornplanter, the respected Seneca leader, by President George Washington in 1792 has been returned to the Museum’s collections and will go on exhibit in the State Museum’s main lobby July 17 through December 30.

Project Completed Ahead of Schedule for Start of 2018 Swim Season

June 27, 2018 – Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the completion of the new $2.9 million Peerless Pool Complex at Saratoga State Park in time for the 2018 swim season. Funded through Governor Cuomo's NY Parks 2020 initiative to rejuvenate and modernize the state park system, the new complex provides improved pool facilities and offers more green space nearby.

National Racing Museum and Hall of FameSaratoga Springs, N.Y. – Renowned equine artist Greg Montgomery, who has been producing artwork associated with Saratoga Race Course’s famed Travers Stakes since 1986, will unveil the 33rd edition of his annual Travers poster series at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Thursday, June 14 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Posters will be available for purchase and will be signed by Montgomery.

Shelby CobraSaratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Saratoga Automobile Museum is the starting point of a Shelby Cobra road tour that will take place from Sunday, June 10 to Thursday, June 14. The cars will be available for viewing at the museum from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday. The tour will be led by Tom Cotter, author of several auto and barn find books, including his most recent "Ford Model-T Coast-to-Coast", which he will be signing at the Museum on Sunday, June 10.

USS SLATER 1945Albany, N.Y. – The third Saturday in June is recognized and celebrated nationwide as Destroyer Escort Day.  On Saturday, June 16th, we will pay homage to the Destroyer Escort sailors killed in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Cold War years and to the fifteen Destroyer Escorts lost in action. There will be a ceremony to honor and remember Destroyer Escorts and their sailors at 9:00 a.m. at USS SLATER.

National Racing Museum and Hall of FameSaratoga Springs, N.Y. — Legendary thoroughbred racing personality Tom Durkin, who called 25 editions of the Belmont Stakes from 1990 through 2014 for the New York Racing Association, will discuss several of his favorite calls of the iconic race during a special program at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The program is open to the public and free to attend.

Rensselaer, N.Y. –On May 26, 2018, Crailo State Historic Site will host a Pinkster celebration featuring musical performances and educational experiences. Once a Dutch holiday commemorating Pentecost, Pinkster became a distinctly African American holiday in the Hudson River Valley during the colonial era.  During the 17th and 18th centuries, enslaved and free African Americans transformed Pinkster from a Dutch religious observance into a spring festival and a celebration of African cultural traditions.
