Nicole EisenmanAcclaimed artist to speak about life and work for new endowed event

Saratoga Springs, NY (February 22, 2018) — American artist Nicole Eisenman will give the inaugural Winter/Miller Lecture at a new date and time, 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 5, at the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College; the event is free and open to the public. The event has been rescheduled due to the February 7 snowstorm.

Eisenman is known for her critically acclaimed figurative paintings of imagined and allegorical subjects that explore the human condition and speak to queer culture.

National Racing Museum and Hall of FameSaratoga Springs, N.Y. — Four racehorses, three jockeys and three trainers account for the 10 finalists selected to the National Museum of Racing’s 2018 Hall of Fame ballot, as chosen by the Museum’s Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. Rose Ocean: Living with Duchamp, on view from February 17 through May 20, 2018, revisits the 2003 Tang Teaching Museum exhibition Living with Duchamp and features more than 50 artists whose conceptual and irreverent works engage with Duchamp’s oeuvre. …

Saratoga Springs, NY (January 22, 2018) — The Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College will present works by experimental composer and multi-media artist Guillermo Galindo in its exhibition Along the Border. Featured are several of Galindo’s “cybertotemic sonic objects” crafted from discarded items found at multiple sites along the 2000-mile national border between Mexico and the United States. These works made from discarded cans, animal bones, shoes, bicycle wheels, leather, children’s toys, and more, reveal the human impact of the evolving economic, social, and political relationships between the two nations over the past several years.

By extracting, combining, and layering music, spoken word, animal sounds, and film, Asili further invites visitors to consider sampling—a fundamental style in the history of African American music—as an art form unto itself.
