Multigenerational workshops feature viewing art, making art

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. (January 26) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announces the return of its popular Family Saturdays, with two workshops each month from February through May. The first Family Saturday will be on February 3 at 2 pm. For Family Saturday: Floating Sculptures, participants will view Steve Roden’s spatial score in the Tang atrium, talk about it, and create their own floating sculptures using tissue paper, cardstock, and string.

Valatie, NY - The Valatie Economic Redevelopment Association (V.E.R.A.), the Village of Valatie, and the Valatie Santa Claus Club, and Valatie Now are proud to sponsor the Annual WinterWalk and Winter Parade in and along Main Street, Valatie on Saturday, December 9th  from 5 until 9 pm. The Winter Parade will be populated by firetrucks and rescue vehicles from eighteen area fire departments, as well as performers from Dance Diversity and carolers from regional organizations. (7/5/23) — On July 9 and 23, Staatsburgh State Historic Site will host a free children’s magic lantern show and craft activity for children ages 7 to 12.  Reservations are recommended: attendees can reserve an arrival time between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at MagicLanternShow.Eventbrite.com.

Kids can see a historic magic lantern in operation and then play with a model lantern and make their own magic lantern slides to take home. They can also create an optical toy and explore other Victorian toys on display.
