We asked local business and organizations to come up with an event, activity or performance that would educate, entertain, inspire and promote Harriet Tubman’s life and legacy.

We were very pleased with the creative ideas presented  and are looking forward to many great events celebrating Harriet Tubman’s Bicentennial and highlighting black history in Cayuga County.

Rochester, N.Y., March 28, 2021—The George Eastman Museum will present a benefit film screening on Sunday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
In Spring (Navesni; Vesnoi, Mikhail Kaufman, USSR [Ukraine] 1929, 65 min., 35mm) is a seminal work of Ukrainian cinema as well as a hymn to the miracle of life. The fact that it was filmed in and around Kyiv makes it particularly poignant today. The silent film was directed by filmmaker Mikhail Kaufman and will be accompanied by Dr. Philip C. Carli on piano.

After a two-year hiatus due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Producers John Nugent and Marc Iacona today announced the lineup for the long-awaited 2022 nine-day Festival, which will return with its 19th edition June 17 to 25 to downtown Rochester, New York.

From legendary performers and familiar favorites to rising stars and new discoveries, the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival navigates all genres of creative improvised music from all corners of the world. More than 208,000 people attended the 2019 Festival.

Russell, a Grammy Award-winning vocalist, and seven-time Rochester International Jazz Festival favorite, will perform in Rochester at 7:30 p.m on March 15, 2022, at The Theater at Innovation Square in downtown Rochester.

The performance is presented by RIJF, LLC, the company owned by John Nugent and Marc Iacona that produces the annual CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival.
