Southampton, N.Y. – From a secluded, spacious and spectacularly chic oceanfront home to a traditional dwelling in the heart of the village, the Southampton Historical Museum's eighth annual "Insider's View" house tour on Saturday, June 3, will offer a unique opportunity to enter and admire a few of Southampton's most extraordinary architectural gems. Attendees will have a rare chance to view stunning interiors furnished with flair, whether the owner favors a high-style contemporary look, classic elegance or an eclectic approach that reflects the personal style of a connoisseur. An early-season highlight on the Hamptons social calendar, the tour is a favorite with design mavens and others who come in search of inspiration and a good time.

Southampton Maritime Museum Children's ProgramSouthampton, N.Y. – The Southampton Historical Museum is now offering a one week maritime themed summer camp program at Conscience Point and this program is for children 9 – 14 years old! You can choose to sign your child up for one or both of the programs. The morning program is on the Physics of Sailing and all those young sailors who sign up will be turning canoes into sailing canoes. 

The afternoon program is all about Oceanography where those who sign up will spend the week learning all about marine chemistry, biology, ichthyology, and more! 

These programs will be run by Josh Belfry, Captain of Sea Scout Ship 908.

Hunting the Whale: The Rise and Fall of a Southampton Industry

Opening Reception on March 4 

Southampton, N.Y. - The Year of the Whale is an interactive and inclusive exhibit that adds new discoveries to the accumulation of documentation and artifacts collected over more than 100 years and illuminates Southampton Village's prominent role in the whaling industry at its mid-19th century height. Whaling tools, maps, illustrations, archival images and text will be displayed with an eye toward making the exhibit accessible to audiences of varied interests and all ages. Among those whose roles will be highlighted are local indigenous people, slaves, servants, whaling captains, and the families that were sustained by the whaling industry.

America's largest chocolate event to feature 100 vendor booths plus appearances by Willy Wonka movie star Paris Themmen, the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car and The Amazing Kreskin.

Garden City, N.Y. - The Chocolate Expo, America's largest and most unique chocolate event, will be returning for a special holiday edition at Long Island's Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY, on Sunday, December 11, 2016, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

At The Chocolate Expo, attendees get to taste, purchase, celebrate and otherwise indulge in delicious gourmet chocolates, baked goods, specialty foods, gelato, cheeses, wines, spirits and much more from about 100 local, regional and international vendors, while touring one of the largest air and space museums in the world.

Schoolhouse (Photo by Connor Flanagan)Southampton, N.Y. - The Gardiner Foundation awarded the Southampton Historical Museum a matching grant of $50,500 to be used for the restoration of the Red Creek Schoolhouse located on the grounds of the Rogers Mansion Museum Complex in the Village of Southampton. Katherine Curran, executive director of the Gardiner Foundation, gave the check to Tom Edmonds, executive director of the Southampton Historical Museum. Witnesses included Bob Beck, president of the Southampton Historical Museum and Stephen Funsch, village administrator for the Village of Southampton.

Dutch Colonial by John David Rose"Insider's View"

Southampton, N.Y. - On Saturday, June 4, 2016, guests of the "7th Annual Southampton House Tour" will have the opportunity to experience extraordinary houses that illustrate Southampton's unique architectural history - from Colonial days right up to the present. A Champagne Reception hosted by Sant Ambroeus Restaurant follows the tour.
