One of Long Island’s Largest Celebrations of Fiber Arts and Crafts

Riverhead, NY (April 29) – Historic Hallockville Museum Farm on Long Island’s North Fork will host its annual Fleece and Fiber Festival on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, May 19).  The Hallockville Fleece & Fiber Festival is one of the largest celebrations of the fiber arts in the region and will feature dozens of fiber artisans showcasing their talents, demonstrating their traditional crafts, and selling their creations.

Farmingdale, NY, - Long Island’s Vietnam War veterans will receive the Vietnam 50th Anniversary Commemorative Medal in a solemn ceremony signifying the official end of United States involvement in the Vietnam War.  Conducted by the Long Island Air and Space Forces Association and hosted by the American Airpower Museum, the ceremony takes place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, starting at 11:30 a.m., and honors 30 local veterans who served in all branches of the U.S. Military during the Vietnam War period.

Riverhead, NY (April 3, 2024) – Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead and Farm Hands educational programs are collaborating to offer a special series of activity-based workshops for children called Spring Saturdays on the Farm. Four hands-on play and crafting sessions based on East End agricultural, natural and cultural history themes will be offered at Hallockville on Saturday mornings April 13, May 11, June 1 and June 22.

Riverhead, N.Y. - Hallockville Museum Farm will host the first in a series of four walking tours on Saturday, April 13 with a walk and talk about Barn Architecture of the North Fork led by local historian Richard Wines, Ph.D., and historic building and preservation expert, Zach Studenroth. The guided tour will examine barns at Hallockville from the 18^th to the 20^th centuries, including the pre-revolutionary war Homestead Barn and the 1937 Naugles Barn.

Farmingdale, NY — Adventureland has announced the details of its multi-year, five-phase $10 million redevelopment plan of Long Island’s most popular amusement park, as well as a new partnership with Catholic Health. This marks one of the biggest investment projects in the park’s 62-year history since the installation of the ride called ‘Turbulence’ in 2015, which cost $5 million.

Cold Spring Harbor, NY (February, 23, 2024) — “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America” presented by the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street, in cooperation with the Museum Association of New York (MANY), examines the nearly 250-year-old American experiment of a government “of, by and for the people,” and how each generation since continues to question how to form “a more perfect union.” Opening at the Preservation Long Island Exhibition Gallery in Cold Spring Harbor, New York on March 22, 2024, “Voices and Votes” will be on view through May 3, 2024. …

Riverhead, NY (Feb. 16, 2024) --- East End agricultural, natural and cultural history will be the focus of four guided walking tours to be offered this spring at Hallockville Museum Farm, a 28-acre preserved North Fork farm homestead in Riverhead. The tours will cover a range of topics including barn architecture from the 18^th to the 20^th centuries, local tree species, antique farm equipment and medicinal uses of plants.
