Fiber WorkshopsAuburn, NY (Sept. 24, 2024) – Schweinfurth Art Center has lined up four multi-day fiber workshops through December that focus on surface design, recycling clothes, and felting. One 5-day workshop is online, and the rest are in person at the art center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn, NY.

Visitors can explore a market tent with 40+ local vendors, enjoy live music, traditional entertainment, livestock shows, Blue Ribbon Competition, and experience the historic village in vibrant fall colors. Motown in MotionCorning, N.Y. – Stephen Towns Studio and The Rockwell Museum are pleased to jointly announce the fall spotlight exhibition Stephen Towns’ Private Paradise: A Figurative Exploration of Black Rest and Recreation. The exhibition will open to the public on September 21, 2024 at The Rockwell Museum in Corning, NY and be on view until January 19, 2025.

Fenimore Art MuseumThe group of new acquisitions features oil paintings and pastels from American artists including Mary Cassatt, William Merritt Chase, Georgia O’Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, and others.

All 27 works are currently on view in the museum’s exhibition American Masterworks.

Cooperstown, NY -- Fenimore Art Museum announced that its acquisition and installation of 27 major works of American art valued at $33.8 million is now complete. The final two pieces, both pastels, were recently installed. Campanile at Lido (1879) by James McNeill Whistler and Still Life with Fruit, Vase and Cup (1910) by Max Weber are on view through December 29, 2024, as part of the exhibition American Masterworks. Acquisition of these works was generously funded by the Eugene V. and Clare E. Thaw Charitable Trust.

Fiber Arts Weekend - Farmers' MuseumThis year’s weekend focuses on the traditional process of natural dyeing of fibers.

Visitors will find weaving, spinning, knitting, quilting, and other textile related activities.

Cooperstown, NY —  Fiber Arts Weekend returns to The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 & 25 from 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.  Visitors will find a variety of exhibits, vendors, and hands-on activities featuring wool carding, spinning, weaving, quilting, knitting, “cranking” (sock machine demos), and other textile-related activities. This year’s weekend focuses on the traditional process of natural dyeing of fibers.
