2021 Erie Canalway Photo ContestDeadline for Submission: August 27, 2021

Waterford, N.Y. – Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor is calling for entries for its 16th annual Erie Canalway Photo Contest. Images should convey the unique character of New York’s canals and canal communities. Entries must be postmarked by August 27, 2021. Winning photos will be featured in the 2022 Erie Canalway calendar.

Images will be judged in four contest categories: On the Water, Along the Trail, Canal Communities, and Classic Canal. Judges will select first, second, and third place winning images in each category, as well as 12 honorable mentions.

Dutchess County Tourism logoPoughkeepsie, NY– Dutchess Tourism, Inc. (DTI) will celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week by hosting the Brochure Exchange Tailgate on National Travel Rally Day, May 4. This networking opportunity will begin at 9 a.m. and tourism-related businesses located in Dutchess County are invited to bring at least 300 of their brochures to share in order to cross-promote to visitors. The event will take place at Dutchess Stadium, the home of the Hudson Valley Renegades and a Dutchess County Park.

Otsego County Digital Guide 2021 CoverCooperstown, N.Y. – Destination Marketing Corporation (DMC), the contracted Tourism Promotion Agent for Otsego County announces the 2021 Digital Lure Piece. This interactive flipbook serves as the County’s travel guide.  Due to funding constraints caused by COVID-19, the Tourism Marketing Committee opted to produce a digital guide for 2021. Approximately $25,000 of funding that would have otherwise been spent on printing and distributing a physical travel guide has been redirected to digital advertising.

Oneida County Guide Award 2Utica, N.Y, – Local graphic design firm, IntreXDesign & Associates, received a national graphic design award from Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) for the 2020 Oneida County Travel Guide. The travel guide was designed by Jeannine Papelino, owner of IntreXDesign & Associates, and was published by the Utica Observer Dispatch.

Papelino said, “Designing the Official 2020 Oneida County Travel Guide was a dream come true for me. Utica is my hometown, and this special project gave me an extraordinary opportunity to promote this area's history, attractions and neighborhoods by using my creative talent in a way to benefit the community. One goal was to inspire locals to discover what’s nearby and that became highly relevant with COVID-19. For me, it's my contribution to supporting the region and highlighting the numerous treasures this area has to offer its residents and visitors.”…

Dutchess Tourism Destination Guide AwardsPoughkeepsie, NY– Dutchess Tourism, Inc. (DTI) is proud to announce that the Discover Dutchess Destination Guide has been awarded a Platinum MarCom Award and a Silver Davey Award.

MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. Well respected industry-wide, the Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). In the past, only about 15 percent of entries have earned Platinum awards, a level the Association deems a tremendous achievement.

The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the "Creative Davids," who derive their strength from big ideas rather than big budgets. The Davey Awards is the leading awards competition specifically for smaller entities as they compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve. The Daveys are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA).

2020 Oneida County Travel GuideUtica, NY (March 23, 2020) — Visitors and tourists who consider a getaway to Oneida County have a newly redesigned Travel Guide to help them plan their visit. The Official 2020 Oneida County Travel Guide, designed by Jeannine Papelino of IntrexDesign and published by the Utica Observer Dispatch, is a comprehensive full color 64-page guide that highlights the places, people, and events that make the area a premier destination.

NYS Water Trail GuidebookWaterford, N.Y. - When the NYS Canal System opens on May 17, kayaks and canoes will share the waterway with cruisers and powerboats, thanks to the New York State Canalway Water Trail Guidebook and Navigational Map Set released by the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. The complimentary guidebook and maps includes a mile-by-mile description of launch sites, paddler-friendly facilities and amenities, and places of interest for over 450 miles of the NYS Canal System, including the Erie, Cayuga-Seneca, Oswego and Champlain canals.
