Many people do not realize that Utica once had a thriving shoe manufacturing industry, producing as many as two thousand pairs daily. This spacious vessel with a capacity for 16 people (and dogs) also adds a new level of comfort to these tours on Lake George.

Cortland, NY - Lime Hollow Nature Center has just become only the 2nd nature center in all of NY State to offer the Action Trackchair, a battery-powered, all terrain “wheelchair” designed to make trails accessible for people with mobility challenges, thanks to a donation from the JM Murray Foundation. Except this chair doesn’t have wheels, it has tracks similar to a tank which can easily traverse uneven terrain and take people deep onto the trails which meander through 600 acres of forests, fields, streams, and unique geological features.

The trains depart from Thendara, Utica, and Tupper Lake providing excursions to and from the Tupper Lake area throughout summer and fall.

The Adirondack Mountaineer and the High Peaks Limited transport passengers to Tupper Lake, from Utica and Thendara, encouraging visitors to discover Tupper Lake’s attractions, restaurants, shops and activities. The Tupper Lake Explorer provides a round trip journey from Tupper Lake to Sabattis.

CCHS Museum & LibraryKinderhook, NY (June 15, 2023) – The Columbia County Historical Society announced today a grant award totaling $10,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), part of a record capital project funding announcement by NYSCA, which totals over $42 million to 144 capital projects across New York State.

The grant will support an energy-efficient boiler replacement at the CCHS Museum & Library, 5 Albany Avenue, Kinderhook. The building, which also houses the Society’s offices and historical collections, was built as a masonic temple in 1925. “…
