Events begin with a coronation of the King and Queen of the Moonlighter’s Snowmobile Club followed by a slate of fun family friendly events. The Cardboard Sled Races start at 1p.m. with prizes awarded for speed and overall award for Best in Show.

MoMI - See it Big Let it SnowDecember 6, 2024–January 24, 2025

Astoria, New York, November 21, 2024 — There’s nothing like a vast cinematic outdoor canvas of blinding white, or an interior scene surrounded by delicate falling snow. Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) will present the screening series See It Big: Let It Snow, from December 6, 2024, to January 24, 2025. Arriving in time for the holidays, this edition of See It Big—the Museum’s signature series featuring classic films on the big screen—includes 14 films that capture the magic and majesty of winter, from cozy holiday settings to forbidding snowy landscapes.

We Are NYRegistration Waived for Out-of-State Snowmobilers for First Two Weekends in March

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced two free snowmobile weekends for all out-of-state and Canadian snowmobilers to rev their engines. This year’s events will occur March 1- March 3 and now March 8 - March 10, encouraging out-of-state visitors to come ride the 10,500 miles of snowmobile trails in New York State.

Long Lake - Raquette LakeLong Lake and Raquette Lake, N.Y. – There is plenty to do in the Long Lake and Raquette Lake from February 16th – 25th. Winter Wonderland Week offers a slate of events for all ages. The Long Lake Geiger Ice Skating Rink and Mt. Sabattis Sledding Hill will be open daily from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, no matter the conditions. Special programming on on Sunday, February 25th includes a visit from the Long Lake Fire Department as part of the Adirondack Local Culture Program Community Day at the Geiger Arena and is open to everyone.

ROOST - Adirondacks USASaranac Lake, NY (February 12, 2024) - The Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Colby Classic Ice Fishing Derby, taking place on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 on Lake Colby and surrounding waters.

Staatsburgh in Winter - East FacadeStaatsburg, N.Y. (1/29/24) — Staatsburgh State Historic Site is open for winter tours on Fridays, Saturdays, and select Sundays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last tour at 3:00 p.m.). Tours are by advance reservation only; reservations are made at www.Bookeo.com/StaatsburghSHS  Admission is $10 per person; $8 for seniors and students; children ages 12 and younger are free. There is a winter scavenger hunt of the mansion that visitors ages 7-12, can enjoy while on tour, which includes a prize.
