Winning photographs will be featured in the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor 2010 Calendar, available later this fall. Judges selected twelve winners from 525 entries submitted by 138 photographers from seven states. First, second and third place photographs were chosen in each of four contest categories: Bridges, Buildings, and Locks; On the Water; For the Fun of It; and The Nature of the Canal. In addition, twelve images received an honorable mention. Winning photos can be viewed at also attached list of winners.) “These images share some of the great sites and scenes that make the Erie Canalway a unique national treasure right in our own backyard,” said Beth Sciumeca, Executive Director of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. “We appreciate people sharing their experiences with us, so that we can share them with the broader community of residents, visitors, and admirers of the Erie Canalway.” The free 2009 Erie Canalway calendars will be distributed later this fall throughout upstate New York.
