Time for Tulip Festival, Concerts, and History That Comes to Life

 

ALBANY, N.Y. --  New York's Capital City is ablaze with color in May as more than 200,000 tulips break into bloom to create the backdrop for the 61st Annual Tulip Festival and a wealth of special events. The Tulip Festival, from May 8 through May 10,  begins with the Dutch tradition of scrubbing State Street and  includes the crowning of the Tulip Queen and fabulous entertainment in historic Washington Park. Albany ‘s Times Union Center welcomes Bruce Springsteen, Yanni and  the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus. The Palace Theatre hosts 100 Voices -- a special tribute to the Hudson 400 celebration -- and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Downtown Albany hosts its very popular spring Restaurant Week with specially priced meals at numerous restaurants. Albany's history runs deep and is widely celebrated throughout the month. The Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center hosts a four-day History Fair and Living History Day takes place at Ten Broeck Mansion.
