175,000 to Be Distributed

ALBANY, N.Y. - The 2009 official Albany Visitors Guide, produced by the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACCVB), "celebrates and articulates the Capital City's new brand: ALBAN.Y. -- An Amazing Discovery," said Michele Vennard, ACCVB president and CEO. The 2009 Visitors Guide cover, created by Tarryn Rainis Design that also developed the new Albany logo, features the festive photo of fireworks over Albany's Empire State Plaza entitled, "Albanninversary," by Kim Stock Photography. The Visitors Guide showcases the Quadricentennial of Albany's discovery in 1609 by explorer Henry Hudson. It features a special four-page pull-out calendar for Hudson 400 -- Celebration of Discovery. "It's a tremendous opportunity for visitors and residents alike to revisit Albany's past and to share a future of continued discovery," Ms. Vennard said. 175,000 copies of the Visitors Guide will be distributed. The guide is the main brochure sent to travelers seeking information about Albany.  It is also the primary source of information that is made available to meeting and convention attendees. The Visitors Guide is divided into four sections:
  • About. This section tells the story of business and community services, with maps and Hudson 400 events.
  • Meet. This area includes information about planning a meeting, potential sites and special details for those planning weddings.
  • Play. This portion features the annual events calendar, information about arts and entertainment, attractions, shopping, sports and recreation and tours and sightseeing.
  • Stay. This section offers detailed information about accommodations, restaurants and transportation.
"The 2009 guide has expanded information on restaurants, highlighting the variety of offerings there are in the Capital Region," Ms. Vennard said. The 2009 Visitors Guide was published by Martinelli Slocum Publishing of Loudonville, with art direction by Hinterland Design of Coxsackie.
