Swain, N.Y. - Swain Resort will host a snowmobile hill climb on Saturday, March 20. Black Jack Racing, in conjunction with Camoplast, brings you the Woody's-Dynoport snowmobile hill drag series. Three-hundred horsepower sleds will race up the 650 foot hill at speeds over 100mph, in side-by-side racing action. Racing is open to the public and spectators are welcome. After the announcement of Swain's closure in March of 2009 by the previous managers, the future of Swain and events such as the hill climb was foggy indeed. This past August, Swain Resort officially announced they would open for the 2009-10 ski and snowboard season, under the operation of the owners of Ski Denton, in north central PA. New management has been exploring ideas of how to convert Swain Resort into a year-round destination and adding the hill climb, they feel, is a good start. Event coordinator and one of the new Swain managers commented, "There is so much potential here at Swain. Our customers and local community have been extremely supportive in our endeavor and we are excited to add this hill drag to our calendar of events." While the event is open to amateurs, some of the best professional drivers in the east will be there. Racing begins at 10:00am and there will be a 100% payback in all classes. Admission is $10 at the gate and children under 12 are free. The registration fee for racers is $27. Racer registration will be held Friday from 6pm-9pm and Saturday from 6am-8:30am at Swain Resort. http://www.swain.com/ For racer information, call Dave Meneely at (315)-945-1968; for Swain Resort or spectator information, call Celeste Schoonover at (607)545-6511.
