At Riverfront Park at Corning Preserve, the ever-popular Alive at Five series starts on June 3 and with live music along the Hudson River that includes performances by Chubby Checker, The Gin Blossoms, Ten Year Vamp and more. The JAMZ Summer Splash takes over the Times Union Center on June 2, featuring Ludacris and Nick Minaj. The Dave Matthews Band opens the summer season at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) on June 4. On June 19, Phish returns to the SPAC stage. At other performance venues, The Marvelous Wonderettes take audiences back to 1958 with the music of four girls with dreams as big as their crinoline skirts at Capital Repertory Theatre. At The Egg, enjoy the original music of The Doors performed by former band members Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger, plus the music of Grammy-Award-Winner Mary Chapin Carpenter. The Palace has the Beatles' tribute, RAIN, and the comedy of Chelsea Handler. On Father's Day, the Army Materiel Command Band is in concert at Riverfront Park, followed by fireworks over the river. At the Altamont Fairgrounds, the 30th Annual Olds Songs Festival opens on June 25, while the Freihofer's Jazz Festival is at SPAC on June 26 and June 27. Throughout the streets of Albany, thousands participate in the 32nd Annual Freihofer's Run for Women on June 5, one of the world's largest and most prestigious all-female road races in the United States. The Annual Art on Lark Festival is growing this year, with more art, artists and music. In downtown, the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District welcomes 16, life-sized sculptures of ordinary people for its Sculpture in the Streets.
