Mexico, N.Y. - On August 16, 17, and 18 (T, W, Th) at 6:45 p.m. the shire of Mexico Point Park will celebrate Mid Summer with storytellers, songsters, harpers, merriment, victuals, and libations. Lord and Lady Green of Casey's Cottage Manor House invite all Noblemen and Gentle Ladies to join in the medieval merriment with entertainment by Omen Sade, Nik McGill, Abby Anderson and others. Amy Hueber and Jennifer Byrne will again accompany them on the harp. Queen Edwina will be in attendance. The fun begins when you enter the Mexico Point shire with pre-event entertainment on the lawn in front of Casey's Cottage and continues in Casey's Cottage Manor House. Casey's Cottage, nestled among the trees on the grounds of Mexico Point Park near the mouth of the Little Salmon River at Mexico Point Park, is truly a Central New York "gem." Mexico Point Park is located off 104B in the Town of Mexico. From the 1930s to the 1970s the Mexico Point Inn's carriage house was transformed into an 11th century English manor house by two close friends: Dr. William C. Casey, a professor from Columbia University and Severin Bischof, a professional artist. Seventy-nine thousand man-hours went into the building's renovation. Casey's Cottage has many unique features including a porch that was added to create a moat effect, a chapel, and a mariner's compass embedded in the concrete. The moat's windows are crude leaded stained glass. And, everywhere - on the floor, on the walls, and even the ceiling - are carvings. Admission is a mere $25 - the coin of the realm. Reservations are required. For reservations contact Lady B at 315-963-7657. The event supports the preservation of Casey's Cottage at Mexico Point Park.
