Hops-Oriented Tours, Discussions, and Tastings, 4:30-6:30 p.m. New York, N.Y. - WHAT: Beer-a staple beverage in much of medieval Europe and the libation of choice for Oktoberfest-will be served in the gardens of The Cloisters, the branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art dedicated to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages. A tasting of several unique beers will be accompanied by hop-centric tours led by a horticulturist from The Cloisters and a discussion of traditional brewing processes by a brewmaster from Boston's Harpoon Brewery. The event was organized by Spectrum, an initiative at the Metropolitan Museum to provide fresh perspectives on the Met's collections and special exhibitions. Spectrum events offer the chance to interact with contemporary artists, to discuss art, music, video, and new media, and to socialize. This event is for ages 21 and older.
