The Hyde Collection Purchase Award, Alex Nye, Plaza 4D, 2010, digital photograph, 16 x 58 in.Glens Falls, N.Y. - Founded in 1936, one of the longest-running annual juried exhibitions in the country opened at The Hyde Collection on Saturday, October 12, 2013 and runs through December 29, 2013. Artists of the Mohawk-Hudson Region highlights the finest work by contemporary artists working in the Upper Hudson Valley and Adirondack region. This exhibition rotates among three venues. The other two hosts are The Albany Institute of History & Art and the University Art Museum, University at Albany, State University of New York.  A color catalogue accompanies the exhibition. This year's juror, Dan Cameron, a graduate of the Hudson Falls High School class of 1974, is currently Chief Curator at the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA).  Prior to his 2012 appointment at the OCMA in Newport Beach, California, Cameron spent five years founding and running Prospect New Orleans, an international biennial developed to bring art world attention to post-Katrina New Orleans.During that period he also worked as Director of Visual Arts for the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans. From 1995 to 2006, Cameron was Senior Curator at the New Museum in New York City. In 2003 he served as Artistic Director for the 8th Istanbul Biennial, and in 2006 he co-organized the 10th Taipei Biennial.  In total, 1127 works by 252 artists were submitted for Cameron's consideration.  He selected 83 works by 74 artists. The artists reside within a 100-mile radius of either Glens Falls or the Capital Region. Also, in association with The Hyde Collection, the 2013 Artists of the Mohawk-Hudson Annex Show, takes place at The Shirt Factory Arts & Healing Center.
