niagara-wine-trail.JPGNiagara County, N.Y. - The Niagara Wine Trail, USA has announced the launch of the new NIAGARA WINE magazine. It is the first publication dedicated to promoting the Niagara Wine Region as a world-class wine destination. The premier issue, published by Flint Mine Press, will be available in late Summer 2013. "NIAGARA WINE magazine is an opportunity to showcase the diversity of the our wineries to visitors, and those in the area," says Niagara Wine Trial president, Oscar Vizcarra. "To fully show what really makes our region unique just can't be expressed in a simple brochure. A magazine is the perfect vehicle to attract wine enthusiasts to the Niagara region, and to delve into what sets our wine making styles apart from other areas." The magazine will be published on a semi-annual basis with complimentary distribution throughout Buffalo, Niagara and Rochester - as well as other well-known tourist destinations throughout New York State and Ohio. The full-color, over-sized style of the magazine will be targeted in locations, including upscale hotels, shops and restaurants, conference and visitor centers, Niagara Wine Trail wineries and associate members, and wine shops. As long-time advocates of the craft beverage industry in New York, Flint Mine Press, publisher of Hudson Valley Wine Magazine, hopes to bring attention to the burgeoning wine industry in the Niagara region. "We want to introduce more consumers to the locally-crafted world-class wines and ciders being made in the Niagara region," said Bob Bedford, president of Flint Mine Press. "We are happy to be working with the Niagara Wine Trail to help promote the region, attract visitors, and spread awareness of the quality wines and producers here." Each issue of NIAGARA WINE focuses on the wineries of the region, highlighting the owners and winemakers, their winemaking practices, new releases and "The Essentials," which features specifics on each winery, including hours, tastings, tour information, events and details such as acreage planted, number of cases produced, etc., as well as directions. Content for the premier issue also includes articles on the 100 year-old history of winemaking in the region, "Grapes of the Niagara Region" and "Seedlings," a column on what's new to taste, buy or do regarding local wines and products.  "We feel NIAGARA WINE will become the ultimate resource guide for the Niagara USA wine region," continues Vizcarra. New York State is the third largest producer of grapes and wine in the United States. The Niagara region's long growing season, topography and soil play an important role in the versatility and volume of fruit that can be grown, and styles produced there. The Niagara Wine Trail was founded in 2002 to promote member wineries. The trail currently consists of 16 wineries and 1 cidery, and hopes to expand in the coming year to add several more wineries. In addition to the printed issue of NIAGARA WINE, a companion internet site is planned which will offer an online version of the issues, expanded articles and original material, as well as audio and video interviews with the region's vintners. The magazine's website, http://www.niagarawinemag.com/, will go live before the end of the year with expanded content coming in 2014. Advertising space is currently still available for the premier issue of NIAGARA WINE magazine.
