Mumford, N.Y. -This is third year of the Civil War Sesquicentennial, the year of Gettysburg and the setting for the Civil War Re-enactment July 20-21 at Genesee Country Village & Museum-one of the largest Civil War events in the Northeast. Each day sees two battles, one in the historic village at 11:30 a.m. and another, featuring live cannon fire, in an open battlefield at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, the historic village takes on the guise of a border town, with civilians busy with trying to maintain a normal life, yet dealing with the wartime shortages, mixing school lessons and farm duties with rallies, sewing for soldiers, caring for the wounded and dealing with solders encamped around their homes. Townsfolk will also offer musical concerts, specialty shopping and other vignettes depicting civilian life during the war. Regiments from throughout Western New York took part in dozens of skirmishes and battles during the Civil War.  One of the most famous was Rochester's 140th New York Volunteer Infantry whose valor under the leadership of Col. Patrick O'Rourke is legendary and preserved the Union Army at Gettysburg by occupying Little Round Top in on that second critical day of fighting in 1863. Museum hours are 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.  Admission is adults $16; youth (4-16) $10, seniors 62+ & students with ID $13, children under 3 admitted free.
