gcvm-town-hall.jpgMumford, N.Y - At Genesee Country Village & Museum's Yuletide in the Country, experience how Christmas became a beloved holiday, widely celebrated with church services, Christmas trees, gift-giving and parties. During Fridays, Saturday and Sundays,  Dec. 6-8, 13-15 and 20-22, the historic village comes to life with  townsfolk celebrating the season at mid-century, including the lighting-yes, real lighting-of a candle-decorated tree. Guided by candle light, visitors are captivated by scenarios based on actual people, events or writings of the 19th century, and each captures the spirit of the era. The walking tours last approximately 1½ hours and depart about every 15 minutes beginning at 5 p.m. on Fridays and 1:15 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.  Tour cost is: adults $22/$18 members.  There is a $2 discount for tours booked Dec. 4 and Dec. 6. A full buffet, featuring beef tenderloin, turkey and all the trimmings plus a feast of desserts, is available 4-8:30 p.m.  Buffet prices are $30/adults and $16/children 4-10.
