The news was announced at the organization's December Board of Directors meeting. "In October, as soon as we announced that the Bolshoi Ballet would perform Don Quixote at SPAC in 2014, our phones began ringing with people calling to ask when they could purchase tickets," said Marcia J. White, SPAC's President & Executive Director. "With only three US locations on the company's 2014 tour, we anticipate high demand, particularly as the season approaches; those who take advantage of this early purchasing offer will be glad they did." The engagement by the Bolshoi Ballet, one of the world's oldest and most renowned classical ballet companies, is scheduled for July 29 - August 1 at SPAC. Famous for elaborately staged productions of classics and a lush, dramatic style, the Bolshoi's Don Quixote is considered one of its signature works; the Washington Post praised the production, noting that it "...brings together what the Bolshoi Ballet does best: grandiose technical feats, juicy folk dancing and a stage full of characters so vividly realized you feel you could sit and chat with them." Ticket prices for the Bolshoi's full-scale production of Don Quixote, which includes live music by the Bolshoi's 80-piece orchestra, will range from $34 - $95. However, individuals who purchase tickets online from now until April 15 will enjoy pre-season discounts of 10 percent (amphitheatre seating; evening performances only) by using the code SPACROCKS. SPAC Confirms Financial Break Even for Ninth Consecutive Year Members of SPAC's Board also approved a $9.2 million budget for the 2014 fiscal year and confirmed earlier projections that SPAC will finish 2013 by operationally breaking even. The Board noted that SPAC's 2013 budget was aided by a record-breaking Live Nation season which generated $1.35 million for SPAC and the unprecedented success of SPAC's largest fundraiser, the Saratoga Wine & Food Festival, which netted $235,000 in fundraising income, the highest since the festival's inception in the year 2000. "We are tremendously grateful to all those who helped us reach this financial benchmark for the ninth consecutive year," said Ms. White. "Given the continuing challenges in the economy, we are overwhelmed with the support SPAC received from sponsors, donors and members in 2013 as well as from the fans who purchased concert and classical tickets or attended fundraisers. This community of partners contributed to a spectacular season and added another layer to SPAC's strong foundation. We wouldn't be here without them."   SPAC to Launch "Building of a Season," December 12 at spac.org Noting that programming for the 2014 season is poised to be "phenomenal," Ms. White announced that the "Building of a Season," programming announcement/web series will kick off next Thursday, December 12 at spac.org. Begun three years ago, the series features an online announcement and accompanying profiles of select artists, repertoire and events that will be part of the upcoming season. Profiles typically include multi-media features including performance videos and interviews, articles, reviews and more.   "Anchored by spectacular programs by our beloved resident companies New York City Ballet and The Philadelphia Orchestra, SPAC's 2014 season will be a magnificent showcase for hundreds of the world's finest artists in music and dance," said White. "'Building of a Season is a unique channel for connecting the public to that artistry. With the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center launching their SPAC residency next season, and special engagements by the Bolshoi, Martha Graham and MOMIX, the possibilities for this year's series are greater than ever before.  I invite everyone to join us at spac.org each Thursday for a sneak preview of what is certain to be an unforgettable season."   Former CEO of LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Joins SPAC Board SPAC's Board also approved the appointment of Philip B. Livingston of Basking Ridge, New Jersey to its Board of Directors. Mr. Livingston brings to the arts center's Board years of executive-level management experience at national corporations including, most recently, LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell where he served as CEO from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, he served as the CFO for several companies, including Catalina Marketing Corporation and Celestial Seasonings. A noted financial expert, Livingston was CEO of Financial Executives International from 1999 to 2003, a position which enabled him to play a significant role in the formulation and passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. He speaks frequently on financial reporting and corporate governance issues. He is a past board member of numerous public and private companies including Cott Corporation and Broadsoft Corporation.  He is a member of The Economic Club of New York.  Prior to entering the business world, Livingston played offensive tackle as a member of the 1981 Super Bowl Champion Oakland Raiders. Mr. Livingston is replacing SPAC Board member Larry King of Saratoga Springs, President and CEO of King Wealth Management. Mr. King, a member of SPAC's Board since 2006, is stepping down to devote more time to his growing financial services firm.   Ms. White said, "I'd like to thank Larry King for his tremendous leadership and dedication to the Board over the past seven years and welcome Phil Livingston as a new Director.
