Cornwall, N.Y. -Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will be hosting a Butterfly Weekend at the Museum's Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall. Join environmental educators Pam Golben, Alicia Ocana and Sasha Boucher for a weekend of discovering the beauty of butterflies.
"Butterflies are not only beautiful to watch, they help pollinate plants as they sip nectar from flowers," said Pam. "Before laying her eggs, a female butterfly will "taste" the leaves of the plant with her feet to be sure she is on a plant that is good for her larvae to eat!."
At 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. enjoy a slide show presentation about common local butterflies. At 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. take a guided butterfly walk through the Outdoor Discovery Center fields. Feed the butterflies in the butterfly tent (one ticket with each paid admission, children must be accompanied by an adult) and there will be crafts for kids. Admission to Grasshopper Grove: Nature Play Area included in admission. Come visit the museum's gift shop where butterfly items will be available for purchase. Pre-paid registration is not required. Admission: $8/adults, $6/children age 3 and up. Museum Members: $6/adults, $4/children ages 3 and up. For more information visit www.hhnaturemuseum.org or call 845-534-5506, ext. 204.
