Featuring Nudes from Hawaii

Garnerville, N.Y. - Artist-photographer Spencer Tunick, artist in residence at GARNER Arts Center (formerly GAGA), is opening his studio to visitors this Sunday, June 29th from 1:00-4:00PM. Best known for organizing large-scale nude installations, since 1994 he has created over 75 temporary site-specific installations in the United States and abroad. Tunick's installations encompass dozens, hundreds or thousands of live, nude volunteers in public spaces.

His photographs and video images are records of these events, which transcend ordinary categories and meld sculpture and performance in a new genre.

This Sunday, Tunick will be showing black and white photographs of nudes taken in Hawaii.

Tunick's monthly studio openings, including those weekends when Tunick himself will be working "in studio", are posted on www.garnerartscenter.org and www.spencertunick.com.

Tunick's most notable works have been commissioned by Art Basel, Switzerland (1999), Institut Cultura, Barcelona (2003), XXV Biennial de Sao Paulo, Brazil (2002), The Saatchi Gallery (2003), MOCA Cleveland (2004), Vienna Kunsthalle (2008), among others.
