Jon Cleary, Christian McBride, and Eliane Elias received 2015 GRAMMY Awards on Monday

Saratoga Springs, NY - Three artists performing at the 2016 39th annual Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival won GRAMMY Awards® at the 58th Annual GRAMMYs on Monday night: Jon Cleary won Best Regional Roots Music Album; Christian McBride won Best Improvised Jazz Solo-his 5th GRAMMY Award; and Eliane Elias won Best Latin Jazz Album.  Each of these artists will perform at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on June 25-26, 2016.

"We are proud to welcome three 2015 GRAMMY Award winners to our 39th Annual Jazz Festival," said Marcia J. White, SPAC's President and Executive Director.  "We are delighted to bring our audiences the best of the best in the industry for 2 days and 2 stages of peerless music making. We look forward to a spectacular 2016 line-up."

Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen In his Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival debut, Jon Cleary will perform the rich music from his newest album GoGo Juice, for which he won a 2015 GRAMMY Award. In addition to his considerable skills as a tunesmith, he is equally renowned around the globe as an accomplished keyboardist and guitarist, and a deeply soulful vocalist. Cleary's rich, full-flavored sound incorporates such far-flung influences as ‘70s soul, gospel music, funk, Afro-Caribbean (and especially Afro-Cuban) rhythms and more.

Rolling Stone declared that "Cleary can be an absolute monster on his own, but Cleary's full combo R&B is as broad, deep and roiling as the Mississippi River, the combined swinging product of local keyboard tradition, Cleary's vocal-songwriting flair for moody Seventies soul and the spunky-Meters roll of his Gentlemen." GoGo Juice, Cleary's 8th album, was released in 2015 on FHQ Records.

Christian McBride Five-time GRAMMY Award winner,
jazz bassist Christian McBride can be likened to a force of nature, fusing the fire and fury of a virtuoso with the depth and grounding of a seasoned journeyman. Powered by a relentless energy and a boundless love of swing, McBride's path has described a continuous positive arc since his arrival on the scene. With a career now blazing into its third decade, the Philadelphia native has become one of the most requested, most recorded, and most respected figures in the music world today.  At SPAC, he will perform as part of Triolgy alongside Chick Corea, celebrating his 75th birthday, and Brian Blade.

Eliane Elias is known for her distinctive and immediately recognizable musical style, which blends her Brazilian roots, her sensuous, alluring voice with her impressive instrumental jazz, classical and compositional skills. With 25 albums to date demonstrating her unique gifts as a pianist, singer, composer and arranger as well as melding her immense talents in jazz, pop, classical and Brazilian music, Eliane Elias is "A citizen of the world" and "an artist beyond category." (Jazziz magazine) At SPAC, Elias will perform with Steps Ahead Reunion featuring Michael Mainieri, George Garzone, Eliane Elias, Marc Johnson & Billy Kilson.

Also featured at the 58th annual GRAMMYs was 12-year-old Indonesian piano prodigy Joey Alexander, who performed during the televised GRAMMYs ceremony and was nominated for Best Improvised Jazz Solo and Best Jazz Instrumental Album.  At SPAC, Alexander will perform a selection of songs from his album My Favorite Things on his 13th Birthday.
