The
2017 New York State Maple Weekends brochure for Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida and
Oswego counties is now available online at www.mapleweekend.com
with information on individual participating sugarhouses, pancake breakfasts,
Sap Run, Maple Trail app, recipes, coloring pages, and more.
On March 18-19 and March 25-26, from 10 am to 4 pm, sixteen maple producers
located across the four-county region will welcome families and visitors of all
ages to their farms and forests to experience first-hand how real maple syrup
and maple confections are made.
Visitors to Maple Weekend sites will find a variety of pure maple products,
guided sugarbush tours, tree tapping and sap boiling demonstrations,
activities, and maple products for purchase directly from the sugarmakers.
The brochure also lists information for four pancake breakfasts in the region
and the 3rd Annual Sap Run 5k race and 3k walk event. Some producers also host
pancake breakfasts at their sugarhouses; other pancake breakfast are
fundraisers to benefit local community groups.
Check the brochure listings as some sites are only open on Saturdays, some only
one of the two weekends. Tastings and tours are free at most sites. Driving
directions to each individual site are also posted at mapleweekend.com.
Visitors are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for winter
season and sugarbush tours.
The 2017 New York State Maple Weekends brochure to sites in Jefferson, Lewis,
Oneida and Oswego counties is also available in print at the county Chambers of
Commerce and Cornell Cooperative Extension offices or by contacting Lewis
Region Maple Weekend Coordinator Marcia Rudd at ruddsmaple@yahoo.com.
