Coney Island USA PresentsBrooklyn, NY -- The 23nd annual installment of the Coney Island Film Festival, named one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals" by MovieMaker Magazine, hits the shores of Coney Island from Friday, May 5th through Sunday, May 7th. This year's edition features 103 films from around the world.

The festival kicks off on Friday Night, May 5th at 7:30pm at the Coney Island Museum with the New York City Premiere of the Documentary Feature "Circus of the Scars - The Insider Odyssey of the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow", directed by Cory Wees. Circus of the Scars follows the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow on a relentless and controversial world tour as they rise from obscurity to international infamy.

Following the screening, it's our Opening Night Party, 9:30pm at the Freak Bar and Sideshows by the Seashore. It's an evening of live performances featuring The Coney Island Circus Sideshow! Hosted by Adam RealMan. Beer, wine and food will be served.

The Coney Island Film Festival offers a wide variety of Drama and Comedy Shorts, Features, Documentaries, Animation, Experimental, Made-in Coney Island, Horror, Sci-Fi and Music Videos throughout 17 program blocks, making CIFF (Coney Island Film Festival), a festival with something for everyone.

Highlights include the New York Premiere of the Short Film, "Villain" on Saturday, May 6th at 5pm. After a dragon destroys young Georgia's home, she journeys to its lair to enact violent revenge but instead finds an innocent child in the cave. Starring Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us, Game of Thrones).

Short Film "Split Second" screens on Saturday, May 6th at 8pm. A mother and father must fight to save their daughter from a doppelganger who has marked her as its next living vessel. The only question is: which one is she? Starring Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo, The Howling).

On Saturday May 6th at 9pm it's the World Premiere of the Narrative Feature "eVil Sublet.". A couple finds their dream apartment in New York’s East Village (AKA the eVil). Who cares if it’s haunted by a horde of murderous ghosts if the rent is cheap and it’s got an eat-in kitchen, right? This horror/comedy stars viral video performer Jennifer Leigh Houston and features the legendary Sally Struthers (All in the Family) in her full-length horror debut.

In keeping with annual tradition, the festival will screen the 1979 Coney Island cult classic "The Warriors," at 10:00pm on Saturday, May 6th.

On Sunday, May 7th at 3pm, the Documentary Feature "The Book of Harth" screens. A filmmaker follows conceptual artist David Greg Harth during the final year of his quixotic, two-decade quest to fill a Bible with celebrity signatures—a project that has consumed him for half of his life. Featuring: David Greg Harth, John Waters, Kevin Smith, Paul Schrader, Wim Delvoye, Noam Chomsky and more!

Wrapping up the festival's last screening block on Sunday, May 7th at 6pm, is "Coney Island Films," featuring films centered and themed around Coney Island.
