2000-13-smith-ndn.jpgCorning, N.Y. - A Festival of Women in the Arts is a community collaboration between the Cantata Singers, area schools, and cultural organizations that takes place throughout the entire month of March, Women's History month. Included in the festival are academic and cultural collaborators who offer a variety of creative and artistic events at their own venues throughout Chemung, Steuben and Schuyler County. Events include concerts, theater, dance, visual art, lectures, poetry and other literature readings. The festival anticipates March 2012 to be filled with excellent performances and amazing gallery shows by hundreds of performers, artists, poets, and more. In 2011, thousands of area residents enjoyed the offerings of the month-long celebration. The Rockwell Museum of Western Art is a partner to the Festival by offering the following tour: Women Artists in the Rockwell Museum of Western Art Collection Self-guided Tour - Rockwell Museum of Western Art • Free In this self-guided tour, visitors will be directed to four pieces in the collection created by women artists. The tour offers insight into the artists' beginnings, their inspirations, and how personal connection has an important role in determining their subject matter.
