CAF Red Tail Squadron and Rise Above WASP

Buffalo, N.Y. – The African American Veterans Monument Inc.’s Board of Directors, in collaboration with the Buffalo Board of Education, is bringing a groundbreaking educational experience to Western New York.
The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit
The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit is a 53’ mobile movie theater featuring two compelling original short RISE ABOVE films that tell the story of the Tuskegee Airmen and the WASP.
Explore the magnificently restored WWII-era P-51C Mustang, the iconic aircraft of the Tuskegee Airmen. This exhibit not only showcases the Mustang's historical significance but also offers the exciting opportunity for pre-paid rides, allowing you to soar through history in this legendary plane.
CAF Red Tail Squadron is dedicated to bringing the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen to life. The lessons of the Tuskegee Airmen are so much more than a page out of a World War II history book – they are an example of how to overcome any obstacle and triumph over your own adversities.
CAF RISE ABOVE: WASP is dedicated to honoring the trailblazing Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII for their courage and determination to serve our country and share their story of inspiration to rise above any obstacle.
The Exhibit Trailer's first location will be stationed at the Waterfront Village Parking Lot, 20 Wilkeson Way across from the “first-of-its-kind” African American Veterans Monument located at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park from August 30 to September 9, 2023. The Exhibit will be open to the general public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday (closed on Sunday). The P-51C Mustang will be located at Signature Flight Support, Cheektowaga, NY for flights and tours. Please check our website for additional detailed information (www.AAVMWNY.org).
Starting September 12 to September 23, 2023, the Exhibit and P-51C Mustang will be together at Signature Flight Support, 50 N. Airport Drive, Cheektowaga NY. Buffalo Public Schools will tour the Exhibit and view the P-51 during the selected hours of 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. General Public hours are 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday (closed on Sunday).
