Tupper Lake, N.Y. - The Wild Center has some great upcoming events and programs, including Predator Week, Build a Greener Adirondacks, and Family Weekends.
Predator Week. February 17-26. Come to The Wild Center for a week of exploring the mysteries of predators in the Adirondacks. Meet fierce animal ambassadors, create creature crafts, and hone your own skills as a predator by exploring our trails on snowshoe and learning to track wild animals.
The Wild Center will be
open all week from February 17-February 26 with winter programming, including
guided snowshoe walks, live animal encounters, warm winter beverages, and wintertime watercolor projects. Free for members or with paid admission.
Ruin and Rose. February 18. Join The Wild Center for an evening celebrating skiing and riding, including a showing of Matchstick Productions' (MSP) latest film, Ruin and Rose.
The night will begin with local high school student and Adirondack Youth Climate Summiteer Everett Sapp's documentary The Last Chance. Filmed and produced entirely by Sapp, the film takes a deep dive into the effects of climate change on the world of Nordic skiing in the Adirondacks, including a compelling call to action for his generation.
The highlight of the evening, MSP's Ruin and Rose goes where no other ski movie has gone before, juxtaposing the story of a future with no winter and a world overtaken by sand, with epic skiing from MSP's standard lineup of the world's top skiers.
Build a Greener Adirondacks. March 23. Join us for Build a Greener Adirondacks, a day-long conference and vendor exposition designed to provide contractors with an overview of current green building practices.
Featured speakers include Kevin and Josh Stack of Northeast Green Building Consulting, Jesse Schwartzberg of Black Mountain Design Build, and other experts. There will be intensive break-out sessions with powerful examples of local and regional success stories. The $50 registration includes lunch at The Wild Center and an end-of-the-day sampling of a local brew.
Also, on Wednesday, March 22, The Wild Center will host, Conquer the Code, a full day NYSERDA training in updates to the New York State energy code.
Family Weekends. Every weekend through March. Get your family out of the house for Family Weekends at The Wild Center. Every week will feature a different nature themed watercolor painting project in the Art Studio, our interactive space where you can discover the intersections of nature and art. Grab a pair of snowshoes and hit the trails to explore on your own or on a guided naturalist walk or simply relax inside with The Wild Center's river otters, a featured film and a warm beverage while you explore The Wild Center's exhibits and see an Adirondack animal up close.
