Granville, NY – After two years of suspended in-person holiday events, the Slate Valley Museum is reviving its community favorite Slate Valley Festival of Trees.
“I think it’s safe to say that many of us are craving large holiday celebrations and the feeling of community that they bring,” remarked the museum’s executive director Sarah Kijowski. “We are very excited to bring this event back to life, and we can’t wait to see what people come up with to help us celebrate it.”
This year’s Festival includes holiday tree displays, as usual. But Kijowski explains that the event will also feature festive tablescapes and table settings.
“We have chosen a theme that we know will resonate with the public: Let’s Gather Together Again,” explains Kijowski. “In addition to trees, we are asking people to consider sharing holiday tables – dishes, décor, centerpieces, etc. – that could serve as a setting for people to Gather Together Again for holiday meals, visits, and sharing memories.”
Entrants have the option to donate their display – tree or table setting – to the museum’s annual holiday auction. Any proceeds raised from winning bids will support all of the museum’s activities throughout the year.
The deadline to register entries is November 23. The Festival will open to the public on the evening of December 2.
Those interested in entering a tree or table setting can learn more on the museum’s website www.SlateValleyMuseum.org and Facebook page, which include event guidelines and entry forms. Forms are also available for pick-up at the museum or can be sent by email by contacting associate@slatevalleymuseum.org or calling 518-642-1417.
