HUDSON, NY — Hudson Hall proudly presents Behind the Curtain, a new collaborative theater production from integrated theater company Camphill Hudson Players. Presented in partnership with Operation Unite NY, Beautiful Racket, Camphill Triform, and Camphill Copake, the evening features a series of short vignettes directed by Jody Brookes (Camphill Hudson), Stephanie Monseu (Bindlestiff Family Cirkus), and Carol Rusoff (Columbia County Players). Performances feature local artists, musicians, and actors of all abilities.
Behind the Curtain is Camphill Hudson’s latest original production to premiere at Hudson Hall. Using storytelling, music, dance, and humor, the work offers an opportunity for Camphill friends and collaborators to share their experiences and connect with the wider community.
This year, Camphill Hudson Creative Director Jody Brookes is excited to incorporate a community call-and-response choir experience led by kirtan artists, the Camphill Hudson Players, Beautiful Racket’s Hudson Community Choir, and local musician Phil Roebuck. With origins in Hinduism, kirtan is a traditional Indian devotional practice often described as “sound medicine.”
“Singing is a universal form of expression and connection,” says Brookes. “We are excited to bring this beautiful tradition to Hudson Hall to celebrate our diverse community, elevate our collective spirit, and foster a sense of togetherness and peace.”
The evening also features the color and magic of Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, modern dance performed by Operation Unite NY and the Camphill Hudson Players, and a hilarious snapshot of backstage drama from the Columbia County Players, presented by a new mixed-abilities cast.
This family-friendly performance takes place at Hudson Hall on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 7 PM. Tickets are free with reservation at hudsonhall.org or by calling (518) 822-1438.
