The Colonie Art League was founded in 1974 by a group of Capital District artists to foster the advancement of visual arts in the area.  Currently, the League has a membership of approximately 200 artists working in a wide variety of two-dimensional media.  A major purpose of the League is to increase public awareness of original art that is being produced in the Capital District by arranging exhibits in public places.  The League also provides a forum for artists to interact and exchange ideas and materials and promotes art as a career for area high school students.

The mission of the Friends of Pruyn House, a not-for-profit organization in partnership with the Town of Colonie, serving as the educational, historical and cultural center of the Town, is to restore, conserve and preserve the Pruyn House Complex, as authorized by the provisions of the Certificate of Incorporation.
