West Point, NY – Rich in American history and beauty, Constitution Island lies on the Hudson River directly opposite West Point. 

Constitution Island has many stories to tell.  Evidence of Native American presence on the island goes back for centuries.  It was the site of the Revolutionary War’s first fortifications.  It was called the “key to the continent” by George Washington due to its strategic role.

At its heart stands the Warner House. The Warner family lived in the home for close to 80 years in the 19th century.  The Warner sisters, Susan and Anna, were acclaimed authors, including of the beloved children’s song “Jesus Loves Me”.  Most of the home’s furnishings are original to the family. 

Near the home are beautiful herb, vegetable, and flower gardens, which were originally cultivated by Anna Warner.  They are the oldest continuously managed private gardens in the Hudson Valley.

Visitors can discover this spectacular place and step back in time by exploring the island with its amazing Hudson River views, touring the beautifully preserved family home, and strolling through the gardens.
