Rochester, N.Y. — The "Wish You Were Here" travel photography lecture series returns this fall, bringing to George Eastman House renowned photographers who share images and stories that invite you to explore new destinations or revisit places from times past.

Photographer Sylvia Plachy: "Attractions"
Sylvia Plachy, Guggenheim Fellowship recipient, will share and discuss photographs that span decades and locations, with groupings of images that become "a dance of ghosts." Her work has appeared in many publications, including New York Times, Village Voice, and The New Yorker.

Photographer Pep Bonet: "The Evolution of a Photographic Language"
Pep Bonet, whose awards include Kodak Young Photographer of the Year and The W. Eugene Smith Grant, looks at 10 years of shooting, including his images of Darfur, Somalia, Haiti, and Sierra Leone. Bonet is a founding member of the photo agency Noor and will be one of three professional photographers featured in the Eastman House exhibition How Do We Look?, opening Oct. 17. This lecture is sponsored by Kodak.

Photographer Ernesto Bazan: CubaErnesto Bazan lived and photographed in Cuba for 14 years, discovering moments in Cuban life that only an extremely sensitive outsider-turned-insider could possibly find. Honored with a Guggenheim Fellowship and The W. Eugene SmithGrant, he has published four books and conducts photo workshops on Latin America.

World Traveler Thomas N. Tischer: "Have We Forgotten Streetcars?"
After receiving rave reviews for his 2008 lecture on global rail travel, "Wish You Were Here" series sponsor Thomas N. Tischer has agreed to present again — this time to discuss the role streetcars and trolleys played in the development of U.S. cities and their European counterparts.

Photographer Bob Sacha: "Faraway Lands/Under Your Feet"
Producer at NYC's Emmy®-winning MediaStorm studio and teacher at the International Center of Photography (ICP), Bob Sacha explores the idea of travel as "a meditation and an adventure." His work ranges from China to New Orleans to underneath New York City.
Admission to each "Wish You Were Here" lecture is $10 adults, $8 senior citizens, $6 students, and free to members. The photographers will sign books following; books are available in the Eastman House Store. The series is generously supported by Eastman House member Thomas N. Tischer.
