Fahnestock Winter Park

Carmel, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2017) - With recent weather patterns bringing plenty of snow to the Mid-Hudson region,

Fahnestock Winter Park has opened for the season. The park offers over 11 miles of machine-groomed trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing enthusiasts. The Winter Park will continue to operate as conditions allow. The public is encouraged to contact the park and check its website and social media pages to stay up to date with the operating schedule.

The center of operations for the Winter Park is the newly-renovated Canopus Welcome Center, featuring a ski rental shop, the Acorn Café and year-round restroom facilities. The entrance to the Welcome Center can be found on Route 301, just west of the intersection with the Taconic State Parkway. When park visitors want to take a break from the trails, they are welcome to warm up next to the new outdoor fire ring or to purchase refreshments from the café.

New this year to the Acorn Café is the Winter Park Hot Sipping Chocolate. Developed in partnership with Rhinebeck-based chocolatier Oliver Kita, the dark chocolate-based hot cocoa is served with pure maple syrup. The syrup is tapped at Hudson Valley Maple Farm, operated by Taconic Outdoor Education Center and located within Fahnestock State Park.

$12 for adults, $10 for seniors and juniors. Ski rentals are $17 for adults, $15 for juniors. Snow shoe rentals are $15 for adults, $14 for juniors, or just $7 per hour. Baby sled rentals are $20 for the day or $7 per hour. Rentals are first come, first served.
