Kingston, N.Y. - Chestnuts roasting on an open fire will be just one of the highlights at Senate House State Historic Site this December. Visitors are invited to celebrate the joys of the holiday season by attending Senate House's, "Festival of Lights" on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 5-8pm. The grounds of the site will be decked out in an impressive display of lights, and there will be hot apple cider, roasted chestnuts, carolers, and horse and carriage rides through Uptown Kingston. Santa will also be on hand and children can receive a free snowflake necklace as a souvenir. The Friends of Senate House have decorated the first floor of the Loughran House, located on the Senate House grounds, with colorful and festive garlands, lights and elegant decorations.
