Fonda, NY - The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, the Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Fulton and Montgomery Counties announce the availability of the Harvest Tour in Fulton and Montgomery Counties map. "This publication has been in existence since the fall of 1998. It is a partnership between the three entities and serves as the only comprehensive agritourism piece in the two counties," states Marilyn Smith, Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Fulton and Montgomery Counties. "Currently in its fourth edition the Harvest Tour map has grown from featuring 40 producers to 52 and includes farmers' markets which have grown from three to eight in the two counties," added Smith. Smith went on to say, "producers and farmers' markets have indicated an increase in sales and customer base as a result of being on this map. Customers who would otherwise not have known about these businesses are calling and visiting their farms. Approximately 10,000 of these maps are produced at no charge to the producers." The map is now available at both Fulton and Montgomery County Chambers and Cornell Cooperative Extension. "While the harvest season has come to an end, this map is a year-round resource," states Gina DaBiere-Gibbs, Montgomery County Tourism Director. "Some farms listed on the map have Christmas Trees, kissing balls, and wreathes for sale as well as canned goods, maple products, and much more. I encourage the community to support these local agricultural producers by picking up a map and stopping by their place of business." "Terms like green, organic, eco-friendly, and local have been very popular the past few years. This map gives Fulton and Montgomery Counties an opportunity to showcase our agricultural assets that fit into those categories," adds DaBiere-Gibbs. "This all seasons map can help with finding spring flowers for planting, summer produce for healthy living, fall corn mazes and apple picking for family fun, winter items for traditional holiday decorating and so much more. Educational tours are even offered."
