Event will feature the Amusement-park themed game Here We Used to Fly on Saturday May 20th, 4pm-8pm
North Tonawanda, N.Y. —The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum has announced that the museum will be hosting its first Amusement Role Playing Game Night, featuring Here We Used to Fly. The co-creators of the game, Kurt Refling and Ian Howard, will be in attendance to explain the rules and participate in the Questions & Answer session. The event is ticketed and will take place Saturday May 20th, 4pm-8pm at the museum, 180 Thompson Street, North Tonawanda NY 14120. The cost is $20 per person, and tickets are available at www.carrouselmuseum.org.
Here We Used to Fly is a new amusement based game by Kurt Refling & Ian Howard. Explore and revisit an abandoned theme park in this GM-less game for 2-5 players. As children, the characters will experience the park in all its glory; as adults, they’ll reflect on the changes that have occurred for the park and themselves in the intervening years. Easy-to-learn rules help players navigate the emotional complexity of innocence, ennui, discovery, and loss over the course of a single session.
For the first time, this amusement based game will be played in the only carousel museum built in the actual factory. The co-creators and museum staff will assist with the rules and navigation during the event. Guests will be split into parties of 2-5 people to play the game throughout the museum, using historical artifacts as the inspiration for their role playing. This unique hybrid style of gaming blends theater of the mind with authentic historical amusement artifacts. After gameplay, everyone will be invited to a Q&A event with the co-creators. Guests should arrive promptly at 4pm to view information tables and to be broken up into playing groups. If arriving after 4:15 we cannot guarantee a full gaming experience.
